It is a special privilege to announce that Professor Emeritus Walter Wink, internationally-renowned speaker, Biblical scholar and author, will be our special guest for this seminar, which elaborates on material in his most recent book: The Human Being: Jesus and the Enigma of the Son of the Man (Fortress, 2002). Walter does workshops and lectures aimed at encounter with the biblical text that will be transformative for participants. His lectures are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their previous biblical knowledge.

The theme of Walter’s seminar is “Jesus and the Human,” in which he will guide us in a reflection on the central mystery of the Christian faith, the affirmation that in Jesus we encounter the Divine in the human. Walter writes: “Perhaps no issue of biblical interpretation is more enigmatic than the ‘son of man.’ Why did Jesus prefer to speak of himself as ‘son of man?’ Why is God described as ‘human’ in Ezekiel, and Ezekiel as ‘child of the human?’ How might it affect our understandings of our own journeys, and of our own struggles to make and keep life really human?”

You won’t want to miss this special day of lecture and discussion with Walter Wink. We’ll be serving coffee from 9:15 and will close the day with lunch (from 1:00 - 2:00).
